This weekend was a fun one for our family. Todd finished his finals on Friday (cue the "Hallelujah Chorus"!) and we celebrated by taking Tori to Central Valley High School's production of "The Sound of Music". I had taken her to another high school production of SOM when we lived in Seattle, and she loved it, so she was excited to go again. Especially with the added bonus of seeing so many of her cousins in starring roles! Mattie played Maria, McKayla played Liesl, Ashley was Louisa, and Andrew hammed it up as Friedrich. It was funny watching Julia and Tori react to the girls getting kissed...Julia tightly covered her eyes with her hands every time Mattie got kissed (which ended up being quite a few!), and Tori was very concerned about the fact that neither one of them was sixteen yet! It's so comforting to me how concerned she is with doing things right and following the rules so exactly...I can only hope the trend continues into her teenage years! :) The performance was great, and all three of us thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I AM SO PROUD of my incredibly talented nieces and nephews and feel so incredibly blessed to have such amazing role models for my own children.
Saturday morning was another momentous occasion as we went as a family to the temple to be with Brayden and Mason as they received their endowments. They both received their mission calls recently...Brayden heads out June 8th to the Brazil Salvidor South mission, and Mason leaves August 31st for the Brazil Vitoria mission. Again, it just makes me so grateful to be a part of a family full of powerful positive examples. Both of these boys were nine years old when I married Todd, and it's hard for me to believe that they're already leaving on missions. It was such a tender experience to be in the temple with them and with so many of our family members...it really does give a glimpse of how wonderful it will be to spend eternity with all of them.
